Decals, please...

Aviation militaire Would someone please print decals for this gorgeous Qatari C-17 just fresh out of the paint shop at Long Beach?
It would be a nice complement to the excellent kit Revell issued last year!

Airplanes in Bottles

Jets Some fellow in the SmallScaleModels Yahoo group posted today an amazing link to a web page by Ari Krupnik. Ari has built several years ago a small collection of airplanes in bottles. I guess you've probably seen boats in bottles, but aircrafts, that's pretty original. There is also an interesting page explaining how he did the assembly. Have fun!

Build an aircraft carrier in 1/144 ?

Navires militaires I just found this amazing site while surfing the web about something completely unrelated. If you ever dreamed of building a 1/144 aircraft carrier (this had been discussed a long time ago on this site) and feel you can devote three to ten years of your life to such a crazy project, you might want to have a look at this site:

New DC-9s by FLY

Nouveautés Three new DC-9s are available from FLY, a new line that seems related to MPM: a military (US Navy) version "Firebird II" with a strange looking nose, a NASA and a UN version.
They don't look like reboxings of the historical Airfix kit but seem to be a new tooling.

Photos of the boxes are available from the Hannants web site (the boxes are available from them too...):

A new 767 from Zvezda

Nouveautés A new 767-300 by Zvezda is now available from the usual sources. From all that has been said in the last year or so, it's a new tooling and not another exchange with Revell like it was the case recently for the Il-96.
A few nice shots of the sprues are available from airlinercafe.com if you're interested:

New Netherlands (RNLAF) F-16 decals from DACO

Nouveautés Boys, and these are HOT ! Wink
Danny Coremans, aka DACO (products), who designs decals for a part of the Revell range, that's no secret, has just released two very nice decals set in 1:144 for Dutch F-16s.

First there's the 'Dirty Diana' tail art that was designed 10 years ago for the 50th birthday of the 323 sq. This scheme is now well-known of modellers and F-16s fans, and it has been available from Revell in die-cast form, drawn by the very same Danny.

Then, now, ten years later, for the 60th birthday of the same 323 Sqn. an even hotter tail art had been designed and printed -- until a high-rank general cancelled the project at the very last moment. But you'll be happy to build one in scale !

Further information is available from the DACO web site:

(Last) Frontier decals available from Southern Sky Models

Aviation civile A couple of years ago, someone in Australia (under the name Underworld Decals) designed sheets for the whole Frontier A 319 and A 318 fleet (well, AFAIK). That's about 55 different sheets!
If you like colourful airliner liveries, these one are really fantastic, with each plane featuring a different animal photograph on the tail.

These decals may have been available from Hawkeye Models before the small company changed owner, and they're still on their website but they haven't anymore.
The friendly owner of Southern Sky Models got the rest of the stock from the printer and that is almost nothing: one copy each of about 30-40 sheets.
So if you're interested I guess you should act fast...
